Obituary.

Samuel Goodman was born in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, November 24, 1829. He emigrated to Wayne county, Indiana, in 1840 and to Henry county, Indiana, in 1842, where he was married to Hannah Wimmer December 16, 1849. To their union thirteen children were born, eleven of whom survive him; all married except the youngest son. Mr. Goodman came to this county in the fall of 1853, where he resided until the summons of death came October 4, 1894. His age was sixty-four years, ten months, and ten days.

Funeral services were conducted by Elder A. Wolf, of Jefferson County, Iowa, from Job 14-14. His wife preceded him in death five months and four days. Mr. Goodman's death ends one of our old settlers and highly esteemed citizens. He and a national reputation as one of the best stockman in the state – a very successful, industrious, honest, upright, good business man, and liked by all who know him.
