August, 2002James E. “Jim” Gilreath, 70, of Coolidge, Ariz., was born Sept. 28, 1931, in Grand River. He was the son of E. Dale Day Gilreath and Harold Gilreath. He died Aug. 16, 2002, in Casa Grande, Ariz. He graduated from high school in Grand River and joined the Army. He received the Silver and Bronze Stars for service in the Korean War and Bronze Star in Vietnam. He also received a Purple Heart and retired as a Sergeant Major. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Coolidge. Mr. Gilreath was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a brother, William Gilreath and his wife, Doris, of Greeley, Colo.; a niece, Mary C. DiManna and her daughter, Dominique, of Thornton, Colo., other relatives and friends.
Interment of the cremains will be Friday, Oct. 11, 2 p.m., at the O’Grady Cemetery, north of Grand River. The Rev. Lyle Peters will officiate. Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home, Leon, is in charge of arrangements.
