Obituary ~ E. Harold Gilreath
August 14, 1904 ~ June 24, 1981

Harold Gilreath, son of Harry Herman and Mary Ann O'Grady Gilreath, was born Aug. 14, 1904 in Decatur County, Iowa. His schooling was in Grand River, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1924.

Harold worked in the Grand River area and was postmaster in Grand River several years. He farmed in the area before moving to Sterling, Colo. In 1960 where he worked as custodian and kitchen manager in the Elks Club.

He married Dale Day in 1928. To this union were born two sons: Jim of Florence, Ariz., and Bill of Greeley, Colo. Dale preceded him in death in August, 1968.

Harold married Marjorie Spotts in 1971. In 1979 they moved to Florence, Ariz. Harold died in the Pinal County Hospital in Florence June 24, 1981.

He was a member of B. P. E. O. Elks No. 1336 and a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Sterling.

Others preceding him in death were parents, and 2 brothers: Bernard C. and Raymond Gilreath.

He is survived by widow, Marjorie, Florence; 2 sons: Jim Gilreath, Florence, and Bill Gilreath, Greeley; 2 daughters: Dixie Lee Sheridan, Florence, and Diane Spotts of Tempe, Ariz.; 2 sisters: Genevive Vaughn, Fallbrook, Ca., and Jean Bornhoft, Sterling, Colo.; brother, William H. Gilreath, Denver, Colo.; granddaughter, Mary Cathleen Gilreath, Greeley, Colo.; other relatives and friends.
