Vance Carl Knapp, 61, for 23 years a resident of Waterloo, died at 1 p.m. Friday at his home, 636 Walnut street, of carcinoma. Until he became ill seven weeks ago, he had been employed in the stockroom at the John Deere Tractor company plant for the past 15 years.

He was born June 12, 1880, at Garden Grove, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Knapp. He married Miss Olive Holland in 1904 at Garden Grove.

Surviving are his widow, 636 Walnut street, two daughters, Miss Mabel Knapp, 636 Walnut and Mrs. Paul Hartman, 310 Oakland avenue; two sons, Carl, 2155 Lafayette street, and Donald, 636 Walnut street, and one brother, Kurt, 526 Center street.

Three grandchildren also survive: Jean Ann Hartman, Gloria Carol Knapp and Steve Norman Knapp.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of Plymouth Congregational church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the O’Keefe & Towne chapel by Rev. Earle A. Munger, pastor of Plymouth Congregational church. Burial will be at Garden Grove.
