January 03, 1925 - March 01, 2015Carolgene Louise Black, age 90, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick Burchum and Julia Kathleen (Petticord) Stone, was born January 3, 1925 in Decatur City, Iowa. She died at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa on Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Carolgene graduated from Leon High School in May of 1942. She married Charles Arden McClure. They were blessed with son, Daniel. The couple later divorced. Carolgene was married to Elmer Harrell for a few years before they divorced. She was married to Raymond South for many years until his death. Finally, she married Jackson "Jack" Black. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church before the Decatur Assembly of God Church. In her free time, Carolgene enjoyed gardening, and collecting poetry and music boxes. She loved dogs and owned many over the years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; all of her siblings, Gordon Lyle Stone, William "Bill" Orr Stone, Beverly Ruth Glup, and Joyce Ellen Rieck; and all of her husbands.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Dan McClure and wife Margelia of Washington, Iowa; two grandchildren, Pamela Thomas and husband Steve of Washington, Iowa and Shawn McClure of Lakeland, Florida; three great grandchildren, Christopher Heron, Johnathan McClure, and Lynda McClure; first cousin, Dr. Rodney Carter and family of Colorado; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Iowa.
