November 27, 1917 ~ July 19, 2007AGENCY – Dewey K. Ivins, 89, formerly of 226 W. Wapello Agency, died at 3:40 p.m. July 19, 2007, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Nov. 27, 1917 in Decatur County, Iowa to Benjamin Arthur and Carrie Heston Ivins. He married Helen Decker June 10, 1936. She preceded him in death Sept. 18, 2000.
He farmed in the Wayne and Decatur County area and later worked at the Stewart Furniture and Funeral Home in Leon before moving to Agency in 1989. He was a member of Agency United Methodist Church and I.O.O.F. Magnolia Lodge #24 in Agency.
Surviving is a daughter, Marylin (Robert) Briner of Agency; a son, Ronald (Mary Jane) Ivins of Ames; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; seven brothers, Ralph, Ben, Glen, Clint, Dean, Heston and Max Ivins; three sisters, Nellie Bacus, Betty and Dolly Ivins.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Garden Grove Cemetery in Garden Grove, Iowa.
Visitation begins after 1 p.m. Friday with the family being present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Odd Fellows services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to I.O.O.F. Magnolia Lodge #24 in Agency.
