Obituary ~ Adam M. Hoy
March 27, 1944 ~ January 06, 1924

Adam Hoy was born in Hocking County, Ohio, March 26, 1844, and came to Shelby County, Illinois in 1847. He served in the Civil War, enlisting in 1861 and was honorably discharged in 1864. He was united in marriage to Laura A. Cornell in 1875 and to this union were born three children, Clarence T., Ermia L. and Memphis A.

In 1893 he moved to Leroy, Iowa, where he resided until the death of Mrs. Hoy, in October 1912. Most of the time since then he has made his home at the National Military Home, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where he died January 6, 1924, being at the time of his death, 79 years 10 months and 11 days of age. During his residence at Leroy he became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was quite well known in this part of the country and had a large number of friends who will regret to learn of his death. He served his country well and lived a useful and upright life.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Garden Grove, Tuesday, January 8th, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Young; Interment being in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
