September 08, 1871 ~ February 03, 1958Eddie Barnes Bartlett, second son of Horace and Elizabeth Bartlett, was born in Howard, Ill. On September 8, 1871, and passed away at the Decatur county hospital and February 3, 1958 at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 26 days.
At the age of 8, he came with his parents by covered wagon to Lamoni, Iowa. At an early age he joined the Latter Day Saints church in Lamoni.
He received his formal education in the Decatur County Schools near Davis City.
He was united in marriage to Ida L. Leonard on September 13, 1891 at Lamoni, Iowa. To this union six children were born; Mary E. Gibson, Eva M. Eastin and Mabel E. Carrico, all of Garden Grove, Ralph G. of Des Moines, Harold E. of Corning, Mo. and Iola H. Lewis of Leon.
Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett moved to Garden Grove in 1902 where they remained for the remainder of there married life with the exception of the past year when, due to the ill health of both, they were cared for in the homes of their daughters. They observed their 66th wedding anniversary September 13th.
Mr. Bartlett was known by all for his kind and helpful ways and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His chief concern even in his last days was for the health and welfare of his beloved wife.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, six children, 32 grandchildren, 51 greatgrand children, two brothers, Herbert of Lamoni and Frank of Wichita, Kansas and a host of relatives and friends. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Max Hall, were held in the Garden Grove Methodist church on Wednesday, February 5, 1958 at 2:00 pm . Internment in the Garden Grove cemetery with the Slade Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.
