Obituary ~ Ethel Adaline (Umphress) Dawson Boswell
April 09, 1898 ~ December 24, 1982

Ethel Adaline Boswell, the daughter of Amanda and Thomas O. Umphress, was born April 9, 1898 near Leon, Iowa, and died Dec. 24, 1982 at the Leon Care Center, age 84 years, 8 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to Harley William Dawson in October of 1916. To this union one, son, Gerald Rex Dawson of Lamoni, was born. Harley died in 1918. She later married Arthur Gilbert Boswell and to this marriage eight children were born: Esther Fetters, Chariton, Iowa; Thomas Arthur, Ottowa, Iowa; Nina Elliott, Decatur; Joseph Duane, Egg Harbor, N.J.; Juanita Foltz, Hoxie, Ks.; Milda Imhoff, Osceola; Hugh Edwin, Freeman, Mo.; and Billie John, Cedar Rapids. Her step-daughter, Veta Johnson, resides in Dallas, Or.

Ethel was preceded in death by Arthur in 1943. She was left to raise her family.

Survivors are her children; brother, Charles O. Umphress, Mill City, Or.; sister Lavicy Walker, Creswell, Or.; 35 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Ethel was a member of the Church of Christ in Leon Iowa.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
