Obituary ~ Anna E. (Edwards) Allen
August 16, 1851 ~ September 22, 1930

Anna E. Allen died Sept. 22 [1930] at Leon, Iowa. She was the daughter of John A. and Ann Edwards. She moved with her parents to a farm near Melrose, Monroe county Iowa in 1856 and later moved to Albin, Iowa where her father operated a flour mill. There she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage to Albert J. Allen in 1868 and later they moved to Chariton, and then to Garden Grove, where they resided for nine years. Her husband was elected as sheriff of Decatur county and they then moved to Leon where she spent the remainder of her life. Her husband preceded her in death 18 years earlier.

Nine children were born to this union and surving were five children; Mrs. M. M. Ray of Maquoketa, Iowa; George J. Allen of Greeley, Colorado; Mrs. D. R. Dudley and Mrs. C. C. Ledyard of Los angeles, California and Frank P. Allen of Kellerton, Iowa together with eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She lived an active life. She was affillated with the Presbyterian church, The P.E.O., W.R.C., W.C.T.U., and O.E.S. societies and was also active in club work.

Funeral services were hel from the Presbyterian church and interment was in the Leon cemetery.
