OBITUARY

Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home at two o’clock Sunday afternoon November 14, 1948, for WILLIE HUGH WALTON a lifetime resident of Eden township, seven miles southeast of Leon, he passed away the preceding Thursday at the Decatur County hospital. WALDO S. HOAR of Linton, Ind., officiated at the services. Burial was at the Chastain cemetery just across the road from the WALTON home.

WILLIE HUGH WALTON, son of WILLIS J. and ENA (HAZLET) WALTON, was born March 7, 1896 and departed this life on November 11, 1948, being at the time of his death 52 years, 8 months, and 4 days old.

He never married but devoted his entire life to the care and support of the family and especially the last few years has been for the care and support of his now ageing and almost helpless parents. He was their stay and support. He never seemed to think of himself but concentrated his every effort to their care.

Almost his last thoughts were the corn is now all picked and the thought he had everything ready for the winter.

HUGH attended country school at the East Eden district then later the Leon high school.

At the age of 14 he obeyed the Gospel and was baptized by the Evangelist FRANK ELLMORE October 1910 and was an active worker in what was known as the Eden Prairie Church of Christ until this congregation was merged in the Leon Church of Christ.

He leaves to mourn their loss his parents, two sisters, Mrs. ROY MCDANIEL, of Eden Prairie, and Mrs. ANDREW BARRY of Leon, his aunt, Mrs. IDA KIMPORT who made her home with the WALTONS for several years, and many other relatives and friends.

Because of his willingness to help in any time of need he will be greatly missed.
