A.P. MARQUET was born in Butler County, Iowa,
March 2l, l86l, and died
at the residence of his uncle and aunt, MR.
and MRS. LANUS N. ARTHUR,
near Decatur, Iowa, Aug. 8, l895, aged 34
years, 4 months and l8 days.
He enlisted in the United States regular
service, and served three years
and three months, and was engaged in active
service, both at other
places and at Pine Ridge Agency, during the
uprising of the Sioux
Indians there three or four years ago. He
was honorably discharged at
Baltimore, Md., two years ago last October.

He was the third of eight children, of MILTON
and JANE MARQUET. Both
parents and five children survive him. He
united with the Christian
Church some years ago, and at the time of his
death remained a firm
believer in the excellency of scripture and
the beneficial influence of
prayer. He came to Decatur County last
spring from Summers County,
Kansas, where his parents reside. His mother
came here when he was
taken sick and remained until his death.

At the residence we read l Cor. l5:l2-58,
sang in Gospel Hymn No. 3, "I
Need Thee Every Hour", offered prayer; and at
the grave read l Thess.
4:l3-l8. In Decatur Cemetery we laid him to
rest, in the hope of a
bright and glorious resurrection; when death,
the last enemy, will be
destroyed, and we shall see him in a
resurrected state through the Power
of God. The bereaved relatives have the
sympathy of the community in
their affliction by the loss of this loved
one.

SHEPARD.
