Died in Davis City, Oct. 25th, l894, after a
painful illness of two
months of paralysis and softening of the
brain, SISTER SUSAN EATON, wife
of REV. W.H. EATON, of Davis City. The
deceased was born in With (sic)
County, Virginia, in l833, and was in the
62nd year of her life. She
came west at an early day to Missouri, and
was united in marriage to
NEWTON EIDSON in l849, to them was born a
daughter, LOUISA, who was
present several days before her mother's
death; also at the funeral.
She was married the second time to W.H. EATON
in l855. To them as
parents, four children were born, only one
surviving mother.

SISTER EATON was converted when she was quite
young and united with the
Baptist Church and remained a faithful,
devoted and consistent member
until the Master whom she loved and served,
called her home. During her
illness she expressed herself as not afraid
to die. She was highly
respected and dearly loved by all who knew
her. She was a wise
counselor and helpmate to her husband, a
tender mother to her children,
a kind neighbor and true friend, a devoted
Christian, but she has passed
on before to await the coming of other dear
ones who must soon follow.
She leaves husband, children, grandchildren
and a large circle of kind
neighbors and friends to mourn her absence.

The funeral was held in the Union Church at
Davis City, and was largely
attended. The sermon was preached by the
writer from Rev. 22 chapter
and 5 verse, "And There Shall be no Night
There." The remains were laid
to rest in the cemetery by the side of other
loved ones at Davis City to
await the coming of the Lord, and the
resurrection of the just.

"We shall sleep; but not
forever,

There will be a glorious
dawn;

We shall meet to part no
never,

On the resurrection morn."
