SARAH LETNER was born in Eddyville, Iowa,
January l6, l844, and departed
this life Tuesday, July 24, l894. When l0
years old, she moved with her
parents to Missouri, where her father died,
leaving her mother with
three little girls, herself the oldest. When
she was l5, the family
returned to Iowa, makig their home in Decatur
County, near Davis City,
where two years later her mother died. She
then went to live with the
family of Rev. Thomas Waller, which was a
pleasant home to her until
l865, when she was married to B.A. MCKERN.

To them were born four sons, three of whom
are still living and were
with her during her last sickness. While
quite young she gave her heart
to Jesus, and had been for over thirty years,
a faithful member of the
Church of Christ. Through months of
sickness, pain and trouble, she
ever manifested her love for, and her trust
in her blessed Savior. Her
husband, suffering from a shattered nervous
system, being at Clarinda,
was not able to be with her at the last, but
tender and loving hands of
children and neighbors did all that could be
done for her. She was a
faithful wife, a loving and devoted mother
and a kind neighbor.

The funeral services were held at the
Palestine Church, Wednesday
afternoon, July 25, conducted by Elder Major,
assisted by Rev. Mr.
Waller. The afflicted husband and bereaved
sons have the deepest
sympathy of the entire community.
