One of those unhappy events which must come
to us all sooner or later
came to the home of one of our most respected
families in Grand River
Township last Tuesday. SARAH, wife of
PHILLIP DAILY, after a long
period of suffering borne with Christian
patience, slept her last
sleep. It was a change tranquil as she
passed from the repose of sleep
to the repose of death.

She was a devoted wife and affectionate and
loving mother and her most
ardent wish was for their highest success.
For years while suffering
from her malady, her devotion to her family
was unswerving. She leaves
a husband and eight children to mourn her
loss. They have the
condolence of a sympathetic community.

SARAH A. CARNAHAN was born May l5, l84l, in
Illinois. She came with her
parents when a child to Burlington, Iowa,
where she resided until l872,
then she came to Decatur County, Iowa, where
she has since resided. She
was married to PHILLIP DAILY, Jan. 2l, l858.
Died Sept. 4, l894. The
funeral sermon was preached at the residence
to a large audience by Rev.
Jos. Edwards from Heb. l2:6,7,8, and ll,
hymn, "Tis So Sweet To Trust in
Jesus" was sung at the funeral Text and hymn
had been previously
selected by deceased. A large number of
friends and neighbors followed
the remains to the Funk's Mill Cemetery and
the last rites of human
power were accomplished.

"Your mother has gone to the land
of the blest

Her troubles are over, she is now
at rest.

She is singing songs on the
glorified shore

With the loved ones who have gone
on before."

"But oh! the house is so empty

And mother's room is so still;

You scarce can keep from weeping,

While you try to bow to His will."

THOMAS.
