DEATH NOTICE:

BEARDSLEY, Donald Edward, 89, of Grand River, Iowa, died on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lamoni, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand River, Iowa with Father Glen Wilwerding officiating. Interment was held in the Grand River Cemetery. Arrangements were through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni.

DONALD EDWARD BEARDSLEY ... Donald Edward Beardsley, age 89 of Grand River, Iowa, son of John William and Margaret Anna [Lang] Beardsley, was born June 26, 1922 in Kellerton, Iowa and died April 2, 2012 at Lamoni Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lamoni, Iowa.

When Don was small, his family moved to Beaconsfield, Iowa. He attended school there.

Don worked for Pioneer Seed Company and lived in Algona, Iowa. He met Berdean Freda Johnson while she was a waitress at the local restaurant. Don and Berdean were married at Algona on May 23, 1951.

The moved to a farm near Grand River and lived and worked happily the next 30 years. After retiring and moving into Grand River, they wintered in Roswell, New Mexico. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a good sense of humor.

He was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a longtime member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand River. The good people of Grand River did many helpful things for both Don and Berdean during their last years at home. After spending a lifetime as loving and devoted friends, Don passed away just ten days after Berdean.

Also preceding Don in death were his parents, Bill and Margaret Beardsley; sisters: Janice Daily, Iris Brewer, and Marguerite Pidcock; and brothers: Jack, Art, Paul, and Tom Beardsley.

Don is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
