DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa April 25, 2012)

OVERHOLTZER, Lila Mae [Reynolds], 74, of Ringgold County, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services wee held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa with Rev. Chris Conklin officiating. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr. Arrangements were through Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.

LILA MAE [REYNOLDS] OVERHOLTZER ... Lila Mae [Reynolds] Overholtzer, 74 years old, was born May 15, 1937 to Earl (Shorty) Reynolds and Opal Lucille [Puttroff) Reynolds near Kellerton, IA. She passed away April 15, 2012 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Before graduating high school in 1955, she attended Poe #6 country school. Lila had various occupations beginning with being a teller at Security State Bank. During this time she and Allen Richards were married. Lila then went to work at the assessor's office, and later went on to be a magistrate judge. Lila found her calling when she started Lilac's Gift Shop near Kellerton on their farm where she worked for many years enjoying making flower arrangements.

After the death of Allen, Lila was united in marriage with Jim Overholtzer in a service held in Hawaii. They had 26 wonderful years together dancing, playing cribbage, traveling, and enjoying being with family and friends Lila has been an active member of the First Christian church for over 50 years. Lila was a deacon, and served on various committees.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Allen and Jim, daughter Janis Overholtzer, brothers Junior and Marvin (Mack) Reynolds, brother-in-law Paul Davis, sisters-in-law Fern Reynolds and Norma Jean Nichols.

She is survived by her sons Chris (Paula) and Dan (Sanwa) Overholtzer of Washington State, granddaughters Susan Lay, Jennifer (Nick) Wagner, Natasha (Jason) Coyne, grandsons Erik (Shelly), Colin, Quinn, Mason, and Robin Overholtzer, four great-grandchildren, and was a god mother to Kenny and Kelley Davenport, Lila is also survived by sisters Olive Davis, Mickey (Paul) Drake, Betty (Cecil) Davenport of Mt. Ayr, and Lou (Steve)Church of Lee's Summit, MO., as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear, dear friends.
