KOCH, Dorothy Lois, 92, of Lamoni, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center in Lamoni, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Interment was held in the Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday afternoon with Kathy Johnston officiating.

DOROTHY LOIS KOCH ... Dorothy Lois Koch, age 92, the daughter of James Arthur and Emma Irene [Linstrom] Henderson was born April 16, 1919 in Harrison County, Missouri south of Davis City, Iowa. She died at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center in Lamoni, Iowa on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Dorothy graduated from Davis City High School and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked in a factory. On November 16, 1943 she married Denmark native, Niels J. Koch, in Bethany, Missouri. Dorothy then worked at the Valair Ballroom in West Des Moines. Niels owned and operated the Missouri Transit Bus Line in Moberly, Missouri at this time.

Dorothy lived most of her adult life in Des Moines. She loved shopping, dancing, and eating out. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and doing things for others. In 1999, she moved to Lamoni and resided at Crown Colony. She was a resident of Lamoni Nursing and Rehab at the time of her death. She was a member of a Garden Club in Davis City and attended the Kellerton Christian Church for a time. In later years, Dorothy liked having visitors and her stuffed animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Niels in 1976, and two brothers, Dale and Wayne Henderson. Survivors include her twin nephews, Garry and Cathy Henderson of Davis City, Iowa and Larry and Heather Henderson of St. Ann, Missouri; great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Darlene Henderson of Davis City; caregivers and friends, Rosa Fifer and Kathy Johnston of Kellerton, Iowa; and other relatives, caregivers, and friends.
