DEATH NOTICE:

SCOTT, VERA, 85, of Leon, Iowa, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church in Leon, Iowa, with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery. Arrangements were through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

VERA SCOTT ... Vera Lou Scott, age 85 of Leon, Iowa, was born March 19, 1926 near Davis City, Iowa to Orville and Esther [Post] Tellier and passed away at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon on May 4, 2011.

Vera graduated from high school as valedictorian from the Davis City School in 1944. She taught school one year and worked in the Davis City Grocery Store for three years before getting married. Vera married Floyd (Curt) Scott on November 10, 1948 at the Methodist Parsonage in Leon. They made their home in Leon. Their home was blessed with a daughter, Gloria Rae.

Vera accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in 1953. She joined a Baptist Church, later transferring her membership to the Leon Brethren Church for several years, then transferring to the Calvary Baptist Church in the spring of 1999.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband Curt in 1984; sister Oresta Still; two brothers, Wayne and Chester Tellier; and nephew Harold Wayne Still.

She is survived by daughter Gloria Boswell of Leon; granddaughter Shawnda Cozad and husband Heath of Indianola, Iowa; two great granddaughters, Shelby and Shea; one great grandson Dylan; sister Ruth McDonald and husband Joe of Unionville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends.
