DEATH NOTICE:

SNYDER, Gerald Vernon, 74, of near Thayer, Iowa, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his home. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Leon Cemetery on Friday, June 24, 2011, with interment following at the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

GERALD VERNON SNYDER ... Gerald Vernon Snyder, son of Edwin Snyder and Helen [Maynard] Snyder was born April 15, 1937 in Leon, Iowa and passed from this life June 22, 2011 at his home near Thayer, Iowa at 74 years of age.

Gerald worked as a siding applicator and worked for the City of Des Moines. He was united in marriage to Linda Kay Day on June 14, 1986. They just celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary.

Gerald enjoyed farming, coon hunting, jumping mules, riding horses and mushroom hunting. He loved the time when his family was together.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; son; brother; and two sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda Snyder of Thayer; son, John (Trish) Snyder of Osceola; step daughter, Lydia (Tim) Gerhart of Pleasant Hill; 9 grandchildren, Gerald (Patti) Snyder, Alvan (Ang) Snyder, Ed (Becky) Snyder, John Jr. (Shellie) Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Jessica Snyder, Deena Snyder, Devin Gerhart and Mandy Nunez-Gerhart; 9 great grandchildren, Gerald (Warren) Snyder, Samantha Prescott, Kathelyn Miller, Levi Prescott, Mark Snyder, Dillon Snyder, Kaylee Snyder, Hannah Snyder and Nicholas Nunez-Gerhart; sister, Jean (Dale) Harrell of Runnells; other relatives and friends.
