DEATH NOTICE:

CASTRO, RENA, 30, of Lamoni, Iowa, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2011, at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Lamoni, Iowa, with Elder Peggy Henson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.

RENA CASTRO ... Rena Castro, age 30 of Lamoni, Iowa, was born September 8, 1980 in Woodward, Oklahoma. She died at her home on February 28, 2011.

Rena moved in with Eugene and Thelma Webb in Lamoni when she was six years old. Due to the local school not being able to provide the education that would benefit her most, she was moved to several different group homes around the Des Moines, Iowa area and in Wisconsin. When she turned 18 years old, she returned to Lamoni, where her loyal parent, Thelma, became her legal guardian. The past several years Rena lived in a home under SIRF (Southern Iowa Resources for Families) management. She worked at the Mosaic Store and Workshop in Osceola, Iowa and the Can Do Redemption Center in Corydon, Iowa.

Rena loved to stay busy and enjoyed cleaning, shopping, and swimming. She loved people, especially babies, and always wanted to help any one she could. She enjoyed her SIRF family and her roommate. She enjoyed attending Camp Sunside and participating in the Special Olympics in as many events as possible.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Helen Brenizer and Thelma Webb. Survivors include her parents, Eugene and Thelma Webb of Lamon; siblings, Brenda and Mike, and other special brothers and sisters; friend Frieda Phelps of Lamoni; and her SIRF Family.
