Obituary -

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa April 20, 2011)

JERRY LEE MARVIN ... Jerry Lee Marvin, age 70 of Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Lyman Roy and Bonnie Ann [Hullinger] Marvin, was born on October 6, 1940, along with his twin brother Gary, in a farm house east of Davis City, Iowa. He was diagnosed with cancer on March 29 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa and left us on Saturday morning, April 9, 2011.

Jerry went to grade school in Davis City, Iowa and graduated from high school in Leon, Iowa. He went to work at E.W. Kniep as a meat lugger for six years, then worked at Thompson Livestock as a truck driver hauling livestock for many years. Then he worked for K Bar C Supper Club and then Industrial Hardfacing in Lamoni until retirement. Jerry married Sheryl Perry Boswell in 1986.

Jerry loved to sing and write poems. He loved to see trains and hear them coming down the track with their whistle blowing. He always told his family about Sheryl and him growing up by the railroad tracks and feeding the HoBos when they jumped off the trains in Davis City.

He accepted Jesus as his Savior at the Clark Dale Baptist Church in Davis City when he was nine years old. He was baptized in the Grand River at Davis City by Rev. Elba Dale. Jerry loved his family and his twin brother's family very much. He was a collector of everything - pictures, coins, trains, ships, ashes from Alaska volcanos, oil from the Valdez spill, and Iditarod belt buckles from the Alaska dog races. Jerry loved to decorate his yard for every holiday. He always said he loved all four seasons.

Preceding him in death were his parents and twin brother, Gary Marvin, on July 14, 2007. Survivors include his wife Sheryl of Lamoni; daughters, Julie and John Baxter and Jana and Shawn Diaz, all of Shenandoah, Iowa; son Jeff and Prissy Boswell of Leon; 14 grandchildren, Scott, Madison, and Camron Gilbert, Anna and Robert Baxter, Heather Constable, Crystal Kuster, Nicole Davis, Baile, Rayden, and Alliey Boswell, Dezarae and Danyelle Dyer, Reilly Diaz; eight great grandchildren, Tessa Ann McFee, twins Brayden and Bretten Kuster, Cory Kuster, Adrian Constable, Teegun and Carter Davis, and Ella Baxter; sister-in-law Maryann Marvin of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; nephews, Waylon and Debbie Marvin and their children, Melanie and Matt, all of Davis City and Brent and Miranda Marvin and their children Avery, Lyndin, and Aidyn, all of Decatur, Iowa; and other relatives and many friends.

We are sure that as we grieve his departure, he is busy being welcomed with open arms by our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now free from pain, standing tall, singing with is brother, surrounded by loved ones, he is Home! Our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, and Friend, we will miss you!
