DEATH NOTICE:

KELLY, NEIL, 93, of Leon, Iowa, died Friday, September 17, 2010, at Westview Acres in Leon. Visitation was Tuesday, September 21 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, with the family greeting friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

NEIL KELLY ... Neil Kelly, born July 21, 1917, son of Albert Guy Kelly and Della Mae Kelly, passed away at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa on September 17, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 1 months, and 26 days.

Neil attended Hickory Grove Country School, Decatur Township. Neil was married to Luella Cover of Van Wert, Iowa on March 25, 1941. To this union were born 5 children. Neil served in the U.S. Army, worked for the Rock Island Railroad out of Des Moines, drove a truck for Lamoni Co-op, and farmed. He was always a hard worker!

Neil liked going to "the boat" and bowling. He bowled on a league at Leon Lanes for many years. Neil was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gloria Dianne; his parents; sister Helen Marie; and brothers Charles, Guy, Lorence, Elba, and Dick.

Survivors include children Ruby Jean Owens (Marion) of Indianola, Iowa, Larry Neil Kelly (Ruth) of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Jerry Lynn Kelly (Sue) of Leon, and Ginger Lee Dutemple (Bill) of New Virginia, Iowa; grandchildren: Jodi Owens Bradshaw (Tom), Danny Owens (Jody), Beckie Kelly Nicoson, Joel Kelly (Michele), and Brandi McClaran; a number of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Norma Kelly of Des Moines, Iowa and Bessie Kelly of Marshalltown, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
