Obituary -

(Bethany Republican-Clipper Bethany, Missouri May 18, 1983)

EARL L. ELMORE Earl Elmore, son of Loren and Frances Elmore, was born Oct. 22, 1912 in Harrison County, Missouri and died May 12, 1983 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, Age 70 years, 6 months and 20 days.

In 1934 he was married to Violet Hamilton, who died in June 1936.

In 1942 he entered the armed services, serving his country for 4 hard years. After his discharge from the Army, he farmed with his father.

He was united in marriage Oct. 16, 1946 to Thelma Showers and to this union one son, Gary Earl, was born. Earl and Thelma purchased a farm south of Leon where they lived for 37 years. He spent his life farming and also working for a Ready-Mix company at Osceola, Iowa.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and 3 brothers.

Survivors are his widow, Thelma; son, Gary, both of Leon; 3 brothers; Linnie Elmore, Cainsville, Mo.; Ray Elmore, Bethany, Mo.; and Harley Wayne Elmore, Willard, Mo.; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. May 15, 1983 at the Slade Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with the Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery. Military honors were given by the Leon V.F.W. and Legion Posts.
