DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa May 26, 2010)

BAUER, Mary Christina, 50, of Garden Grove, Iowa, died at her home in Garden Grove on May 19, 2010. Funeral Services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Friday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Burial was in Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.

MARY CHRISTINA BAUER ... Mary Christina Bauer, age 50, the daughter of Milton Benjamim and Marlus Marie [Thomas] Bauer, was born January 10, 1960 at Maquoketa, Iowa. She died at her Garden Grove, Iowa home on May 19, 2010.

The family moved to Garden Grove when Mary was five years old. She graduated from Mormon Trail High School in 1978. She became a semi-truck driver, working for the Jimmy Dean Plant in Osceola, Iowa doing team driving with Scott Hoyle, who became her companion for the last twenty-five years. Together Mary and Scott drove over the country in the truck. They also traveled together on a motorcycle. Mary loved raising flowers and listening to "oldies" music, but her favorite pastime was restoring, driving, and showing off her 1956 Buick Special. She took it to the national car show in Rochester, Minnesota and to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she received a Silver rating for it.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents and infant sister Kathy Ann Bauer.

Survivors include her father Milton Bauer of Des Moines, Iowa; mother Marlus "Doad" Dale of Osceola, Iowa; stepfather Dennis Dale of Garden Grove; siblings: Tom Bauer of Kansas City, Kansas, Pixie Bauer of Des Moines, Iowa, Pat Bauer of Lebanon, Missouri, Mike Bauer of Rockwell City, Iowa, Samantha Riekena of Osceola, Iowa, and Denny Petty and husband Nathan of Ankeny, Iowa; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
