DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa May 19, 2010)

KINNEY, Donald Deen, 85, of Weldon, Iowa, died at his home on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Funeral services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa on Saturday, May 15, at 10:00 am with Reverend Lyle Ball officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola, Iowa with Military Honors by Davis-Pence American Legion Post # 69 of Osceola.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

DONALD DEEN KINNEY ... Donald Deen Kinney, son of David Allen and Sarah Glendola [Harris] Kinney, was born October 8, 1924 in Abilene, Kansas and passed away May 12, 2010 at his home in rural Weldon, Iowa at the age of 85 years.

He was united in marriage to Beverly S. McCarl on July 8, 1951 in Leon, Iowa and to this union three sons were born, Richard Gregory, Stephen Mark and Brad Alan Kinney.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Kinney of Weldon, Iowa: 3 sons, Richard Gregory Kinney and wife, Dianna of Lancaster, Missouri, Stephen Mark Kinney and wife, Mickie of Adel, Iowa and brand Alan Kinney and wife, Stephanie of Davis City, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Curtis Ryan Kinney of Lancaster, Missouri, David Alan Kinney of Centerville, Iowa, Amanda Rae Taborga and husband Phillippe of Adel, Iowa, Dustin Deen Kinney and Sara of Altoona, Iowa, Meghan Michell Kinney and Rudy Nardini of Adel, Iowa, Matthew Wayne Kinney of Adel, Iowa, Kallie Alisha Kinney of Davis City, Iowa, Coby Wyatt and Makinzey Nichole Bates of Davis City, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Adrian Wendell Deen Kinney, Gabriela Rose Taborga, Vaughn-Elise Nardini, Isaac Alan Kinney and Andre Eli Taborga; one brother-in-law, Richard L. McCarl and wife, Liz of Johnston, Iowa; other family members and friends.

Preceding don in death were his parents; one sister, Della Mae Brandt and two brothers, Richard Allen and Gilbert Ross Kinney.

Don served in the United States Navy in the South Pa civic during World War II and was honorably discharged following this tour of duty on March 30, 1946. Don retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in Des Moines, Iowa in 1983 after 30 years of service. He farmed in the Van Wert and Weldon, Iowa area for over fifty years. His passion was his family and farming.
