ELLIS, Marvin Dean Sr., 91, of Osceola, Iowa, died May 8, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Today, Wednesday, May 12 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with burial following at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.

Visitation was open at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon on Tuesday May 11, from noon until 9:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service.

MARVIN DEAN ELLIS, SR. ... Marvin Dean Ellis was born July 9, 1918 to John and Addie [Wilmont] Ellis in Humeston, IA and died May 8, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, IA at the age of 91 years. He attended country school in Richmond Township, Wayne County, IA.

Marvin was united in marriage to Wilma Lucille Bryan on December 24, 1938. Four children were blessed to their marriage.

Marvin Worked for various farmers until they bought their own farm near Weldon, IA in 1949. They lived there for 52 years until they moved to Osceola, IA in 2001.

Active in the community, Marvin worked for the ASC Office, served on the Mormon Trail School Board, and was an Election Judge in Franklin Township, Clarke County. Marvin and Wilma attended the Presbyterian Church in LeRoy, IA and was the chairman for their Harvest Festival Parade for many years.

After retiring they spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Marvin loved spending time with friends, playing cards, telling stories, engaging his grandchildren in water fights and "Trixie" rides and enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren on their visits to the farm.

He was preceded in death by parents John W. Ellis and Addie L. Wilmont Ellis; sister Velma Offield; brother Raymond Ellis; and two grandsons, Douglas Dean Ellis and William Lee Ellis.

Marvin is survived by his wife Wilma Bryan Ellis of Osceola; Elva Mae Keller, sister of Humeston; daughter Erma Fight and husband Larry of Davenport, IA; son Marvin Ellis, Jr. and wife Ruth of Weldon, IA; son Robert Ellis and wife Patricia of Star Prairie, WI; daughter Eva Davison of Davenport, IA. Grandchildren are Debbie Smith & husband Tim of Walcott, IA; Diane Fight of Bettendorf, IA; Bob Ellis of Las Vegas, NV; Teresa Sabanty and husband Steve of St. Charles, IL; David Ellis and wife Dawn of Westminster, Co; Laura Klein of Star Prairie, WI. Great grandchildren are Megan and Alex Smith, Demi Sebanty, Cole and Chase Klein.
