DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa April 21, 2010)

MOREN, Hazel Marie [Burchett], 84, of Grand River, Iowa, died April 13, 2010 at Westview Acres Care Center in Leon, Iowa. Following cremation, a memorial Service was held April 16 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Pastor Terry Roberts officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

Memorials may be given to the Grand River First Responders.

HAZEL MOREN ... Hazel Marie [Burchett] Moren was born December 19, 1925. She was he youngest child of George and Libbie [Monroe] Burchett.

Hazel grew up in Grand River Iowa and graduated from the Grand River High School in 1943. In March of 1944 she was married to Joseph Raymond Moren of Van Wert, Iowa. In the next 20 years they became the parents of 7 healthy children: Diana, Daniel, Jean, Janet, Joanne, David and Terry.

Hazel's main job in life was her children but she also had other jobs part time. She was a telephone operator, waitress, cook, and at the age of 50 went back to the adult classes of DMACC in Des Moines and worked for the State of Iowa from 1977 to 1983.

Hazel retired in 1983 and returned to Grand River to Make her home with son, David. She passed away April 13, 2010 at 4:45 p.m. at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters & their husbands, 3 brothers & their wives, 1 nephew, 2 nieces, a baby granddaughter, and her children's father Joe. She is survived by her children and a great number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed different types of books. She loved to sew, crochet and embroidery. Hazel loved many types of music with gospel music being her favorite.

Hazel accepted Christ in her life at age 16 under the ministry of Harold & Thelma Lacey who pastored the Baptist Church in Grand River in the early 1940's. She was not a member of any specific church but she had a great faith and belief in God.

And while Hazel's life here has come to an end her new life is just beginning. Praise God!
