VANDERFLUTE, Helene Rita, 81, of Leon, Iowa, died March 22, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside services were held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa March 26 with Pastor Max Carmichael officiating. Funeral arrangements were made through the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa.

HELENE VANDERFLUTE ... Helene Rita Vanderflute of Leon, Iowa was born July 18th, 1928 and grew up in Terre Haute in Decatur County, Iowa. She passed away March 22nd, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 81.

Preceding Helene in death were her husband Everett Vanderflute; two daughters: Sharon Dingman of Washington and Judy Carolan of Mendon, Illinois; two sons: Jerry and Larry Vanderflute; and two sons-in-law: Edward Thomason and John Naylor.

Surviving are her two daughters: Carol Thomason of Mangham, Louisiana and Connie Naylor of Wellman, Iowa; two sons-in-law: Jim Carolan and Larry Dingman; a very special granddaughter Christine Brenizer, who was her caretaker, and daughters and grandson Jody South and wife Cassie and children of Osceola, Iowa; grandchildren: Wendi Naylor White and husband Victor and children of Bay Minette, Alabama, John Naylor and children of Wellman, Belinda Thomason Hill and husband Kevin and children of Mangham, Loretta Dingman Kumm and husband Frank and children of Battlefield, Washington, Lisa Dingman, and fiance and daughter of Tucson, Arizona, Vicci Vanderflute Short and children of Decatur, Iowa. Shiela Vanderflute Nauman and children of Carroll, Iowa, Tammy Vanderflute Van Dyne and children of Templeton, Iowa, Larry Vanderflute and wife Shannon and children of Leon, Ricky Thomason and wife Jennifer and children of Sterlington, Louisiana; sisters-in-law Donna Nelson and Delores Mart and husband Ray; brother-in-law George "Shorty" Vanderflute and wife Myrtle; nieces and nephews, plus friends.

Her special things she liked to do were garage sales and taking care of her collection of Dolls. Helene also had a very special little dog named Teddy.
