DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa March 31, 2010)

PECK, Doris Aleene, 90, of Leon, Iowa, died March 23, 2010 at the Nernes home in rural Leon. Funeral services were held March 27 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Burial was in Lewisburg Cemetery, east of High Point.

Memorials may be given to the Moutn Ayr Office of Hospice of Central Iowa.

DORIS ALEENE PECK ... Doris Aleene Peck, age 90 of Leon, Iowa, daughter of William and Ida Bell Marshall, was born August 15, 1919 in the Blythedale, Missouri area and died March 23, 2010 at the Nernes home in rural Leon, under the good care of Dwight and Judy Nernes and their family, Hospice of Central Iowa, and the nurses at the Decatur County Hospital, Doris had made her home with Dwight and Judy since her husband's death in 2007.

Doris married Lloyd Merle Peck on August 2, 1963. They lived near High Point and later made their home in Leon. Doris and Lloyd enjoyed spending time together through their 44 years o marriage - eating out, taking car rides, and fishing. Doris liked playing solitaire and watching old music shows.

Doris was a homemaker. She also worked as a nurses' aide at Frost Nursing Home and Westview Acres, and was employed at the Ben Franklin Store.

Doris enjoyed and appreciated her neighbors, Austin and Gladys Rumley and the Donnie Earley Family, and her special friend, Tabby Martin.

Preceding Doris in death were her parents; brother Don Marshall; and her husband Lloyd Peck.

Doris is survived by sister-in-law Wilma Marshall of Leon and all of Wilma's family; cousin Don Peck, wife Teresa, and their daughter Angela of California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
