DEATH NOTICE:

STARK, Wilbert Neil, 93, of Grand River, Iowa, died December 12, 2005 at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa. Funeral services wee held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon Friday, December 16 with Jeff Thayer and Jason Sweazy officiating. Burial was in the Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established for the Grand River Meal Site.

WILBERT NEIL STARK ... Wilbert Neil Stark, age 93, was born north of Grand River, Iowa to John Leslie and Esther Merle [Cole] Stark on April 21, 1912. Neil died December 12, 2005 at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa.

Neil, also known ad Deke, attended Grand River Schools. On December 30, 1936 Neil was married to Goldie Pear South. Four children blessed this home: Elois, Marion, Carolyn and Darwin. They lived in Decatur and Clarke Counties. Neil farmed and then worked road construction, he and Goldie spent 20 years as caretakers for seven cemeteries: Oak Hill and six more in Richland Township of Decatur County. He mowed and hand dug graves until his retirement at age 85! He was hard working and enjoyed his work.

In 1954 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. On December 16, 2003 he moved into Westview Acres in Leon.

Those preceding him in death were his parents; 7 brothers: Noel, Dale, Roland, Edgar, Clifford, Donald "Sandy" and Merlyn Stark; 4 sisters: Ruth Camp, Ruby Stark, Marjorie Akes and Bessie Mason; and great grandson Noah Edwards.

He is survived by wife Goldie Stark of Grand River; his children: Elois Chandler of Hemet, CA; Marion Stark and wife Donna of Kellerton, IA; Carolyn Spicer and husband Richard of Gentry, MO; and Darwin Stark and wife Ellen of King City, MO; 10 grandchildren: Michael and Brenda Stark, Billy Stark, Denny Stark, Joey and Tammy Stark, Jacki and Clyde Feeback, Janie Stark, Craig and Holly Spicer, Chris and Lorna Chandler, Kelli and Bob Clymer, and Jamie and Joe Love; 24 great grandchildren; 6 great, great grandchildren; 5 sisters: Martha Reasoner of Indianola, IA; Oneta Redman and Doris Redman of Osceola, IA; Ellen Peterson of Osceola; and JoAnn Brink and husband Don of Raytown, MO; sisters-in-law: Nina Stark of Casper, WY and Lois Stark of Eagle Grove, IA; brothers-in-law: Leonard Camp and Alfred Mason of Osceola; Goldie's family; and other relatives and friends.
