JAMES H. JOHNSON was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, Sept. 5, 1846, and came
to Iowa in early life. He was joined in marriage to Miss MINERVA BARRICKMAN
Jan. 2, 1867. To them were born one son and three daughters. He lived in
and near Van Wert, Iowa, until within the last eight years. About six years
ago he was stricken with paralysis. Since then he has lived in Des Moines
with his daughter MAGGIE and her husband, GEORGE WOOD. He died in a
hospital at Mandon, North Dakota, and his remains were brought to Van Wert.

The funeral was held March 25th, after which his remains were buried beside
those if his wife. Rev. A.B. Cornell, of the Christian Church, and Rev. M.H
Keast, of the Methodist Church, were present and assisted at the funeral
services.
