Decatur County Journal
Leon, Iowa
Thursday, January 22,1914

The eldest daughter of SVEN SVENSON and ANNA K. ANDERSDATTER, was born in
northern Sweden, Oct. 12, 1845, and died at her home in Woodland Township,
Decatur County, Iowa, January 15, 1914, aged sixty-eight years, three months
and three days. She was married to LOUIS BROLIN Oct. 26, 1873. To this
union was born one son, GIDEON. She leaves to mourn her death her husband,
son and son's wife, two grandsons, LOUIS G. and WM. E. BROLIN, also six
brothers, NELS SWANSON, SVEN, PETER, ERICK, ANTON, OLOF TELLSTROM, two
sisters, ANNA LISA DAHLIN, and EVA SVENSON, who all live in Sweden with
their families except NELS, who was present during her last sickness and
death. One nephew and wife reside in Portland, Ore. She came with her
husband to the United States in 1881, coming to Chicago where they lived
nearly two years, coming to Decatur County in June, 1883, which place has
since been her home. She was baptized as an infant by the Swedish Lutheran
Church and also immersed by Rev. Frank Ellmore, of the Church of Christ,
Eden Prairie. Her last illness was extremely painful and filled with
suffering, but when death came and loosed the chains and set the captive
free she was ready to depart in peace, knowing all was well. This is a
short sketch of a kind and loving woman and mother.

The funeral services were held at the late home in Woodland Township on Jan.
16, by Wm J. Campbell and assisted by Mr. Geo. Stark, after which, followed
by a great many of her friends and neighbors her body was tenderly and
reverently laid to rest in the Walton Cemetery to await the resurrection
morn.
