MARY EVALINA WILLIAMS was born in Clarke County, Iowa, April 6, 1853, and
departed this life March 2, 1914, at Weldon, Iowa, being 60 years, 10 months
and 27 days of age. She was the second of ten children of J.S. and LOUVISA
OVERTON WILLIAMS, two of whom died in infancy. She was married in the
county of her birth to REUBEN CHAPMAN, November 17, 1872. To this union
were born four children: HARRY E. CHAPMAN, of Clinton, Oklahoma; ARCHIE, who
died in infancy; AMY LOUVISA HORNEY, of Weldon, Iowa, and LILLIAN VIOLA EDDY
of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to these children there remain to mourn
her departure her husband, three brothers, GILHAM B. WILLIAMS, of Draper,
South Dakota; MONROE WILLIAMS, of Boyero, Colorado; NORVILLE WILLIAMS, of
Weldon, and one sister, Mrs. NORA EDDY, also of Weldon.

Mrs. CHAPMAN became a Christian in 1871, being baptized in Wolf branch north
of Van Wert by Elder Porter and with her husband became charter members of
the Weldon Christian Church. Her Christian life needs no comment, but the
grateful remembrance of a host of friends portrays a splendid loyalty to her
Lord, an intense and active interest in His church, and an unwearied delight
in the fellowship of His followers. In recent years she was active in the C
W.B.M., the Junior society, as a teacher in the Bible school, and in the
prayer meeting. She rests from her labors and her words do follow her.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at two o'clock with A.B. Cornell, an
old friend of the family, in charge, assisted by the present minister.
