NOECKER, Leon "Lee" of Garden Grove, Iowa, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services are pending at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon.

NOECKER, Leon John "Lee", 79, of Garden Grove, Iowa, died June 15, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held June 18 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Rev. Terry Roberts and Deacon Reinhold Kunze officiating, with Burial following at Garden Grove Cemetery in Garden Grove, Iowa. A prayer service was held at the funeral home on June 17 with Father William Miller, C.P.P.S. officiating.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

LEON JOHN "Lee" NOECKER, age 79 of Garden Grove, Iowa, son of Anton John and Eleanor Elizabeth [Kathol] Noecker, was born June 5, 1929 in Bow Valley, Nebraska and died June 15, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lee was baptized into the Catholic Church as a baby. He attended Bunker Hill Country School and Holy Trinity Catholic School in Hartington, Nebraska.

Lee married Lorna Toney on June 7, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. After living in Omaha and Davenport, Iowa, they have made their home in Garden Grove the past 37 years. Three daughters and one son were born to Lee and Lorna: Lora, Lisa, Leslie, and Logan.

Lee was a long-distance trucker. He drove for several companies and later had his own truck. He was a dedicated van driver for Mormon Trail Schools for 12 years. Lee and his family mowed and maintained the High Point and Garden Grove Cemeteries for 15 years.

Lee served on the Garden Gove City Council and Garden Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Taking up gold at age 65, he enjoyed both golfing and camp-outs with his family. Lee visited with people on the deck of his home, and he liked coffee and conversation with his family and friends. Family was very important to Lee. He traveled many miles to visit his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Leora Hedberg and Rosemary Feilmeier.

Lee is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorna Noecker of their home in Garden Grove; children: Lora Peterson and husband Morgan of Canyon Lake, Texas, Lisa Lavely and husband Stanley of Garden Grove, Leslie Klinkhammer and husband Rob of Epworth, Iowa, and Logan Noecker and wife Carol of Overland Park, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; daughter Robbie Tanner and husband Roger of Greenfield, Iowa and son Brian Noecker and wife Donna of Creston, Iowa, and their families; brothers and sisters: Marvin Noecker and wife Teresa of Hartington, Doris Folkers of Hartington, Delores Lammers of Randolph, Nebraska, and Larry Noecker and wife Carol of Yankton, South Dakota; mother-in-law Georgia Toney of Leon, and all of Lorna's family; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
