DEATH NOTICE:

WINANS, Doris Ellen [Walrod], 89, of Lamoni, Iowa, died January 31, 2010 at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery, Wall Lake, Iowa.

DORIS ELLEN [WALROD] WINANS ... Doris Ellen [Walrod] Winans was born July 29, 1920 at Newell, Iowa Buena Vista County. Doris was raised at Yetter, Iowa in Calhoun County, one of three children born to James A. and Addie Larimer Walrod.

Doris was married to Don Winans on February 27, 1946. There were no children to this union, but three step children: Jack Winans, Betty Jo Winans and LeAnn Roatch.

Doris joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in 1959 while in Dunlap, Iowa, and attended the Decatur Restoration Branch while residing in Lamoni where she was an active member and church school teacher.

Those preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Thurman Walrod; sister, Winogene Harme; and her husband, Don Winans.

Those remaining are her nieces and nephews, and two step children.

Doris passed away on January 31, 2010 at the Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center, she was 89 years old.

Interment will be at Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake, Iowa.
