JAMES THARP, the son of Mr. and Mrs. THOMAS THARP, was born September 20,
1851, on a farm 5 miles south of Garden Grove. He was married to REBECCA
BRILEY, and to this union were born three children, all of whom are living.
Mr. THARP was married to MINNIE MCGAHUEY, March 30, 1893. The residence on
the farm was continued until eleven years ago when he moved to Leon where he
was engaged in business until his death, Nov. 30, 1913, after two weeks
illness, his health having been poor for some years. He leaves to mourn his
loss, his wife, mother, children, one sister, Mrs. JANE MILLER, and two
brothers.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the
Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Guy J. Fansher, the pastor. A quartette
from the church choir sang three helpful hymns. Many sorrowing friends and
business associates attended the services. The pall bearers were: Fred
Teale, J.H. Evans, George Ogilvie, C. Brazelton, Ed Bell and James Springer.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.
