Mrs. W.P. HUDSON, a niece of Mrs. JAMES HOWELL, of Leon, committed suicide
at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I.M. ROBERTS, at Albany, Mo.,
Sunday, November 30th. Mrs. HUDSON, who resided at Anadarko, Oklahoma, had
been visiting for some time with her parents. Her little son, four years
old, had accompanied her. Sunday morning her little son had gone with her
father to church. A short time after they had left the house Mrs. HUDSON
remarked to her mother that she would go up stairs and write some letters.
Soon after she had gone to a room on the second floor of the building a
pistol shot was heard and the mother on rushing to the room had found her
daughter lying upon the floor gasping for breath. Help was quickly summoned
but Mrs. HUDSON passed away in a few moments after firing the fatal shot.
She had bared her breast and had placed the revolver, a 32 calibre, against
the flesh, and then fired. The ball passed entirely through the body. No
reason is known for the rash act other than ill health and despondency.

The funeral was held the following Tuesday morning. JAMES HOWELL, of Leon,
accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. CLYDE YOST, of near this city, attended
the funeral.
