Obituary -

(The Western Star Coldwater, Comanche, Kansas September 10, 1948)

MRS. O. H. McCORKLE DIES IN WILMORE Mrs. O.H. McCorkle of Wilmore passed away quietly last Friday after an illness of more than 18 months, cancer being the cause of her death.

Funeral services were held in the Wilmore Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. last Sunday and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. W. J. Thomas. Burial was in the Wilmore Cemetery.

Blanche Elizabeth Killillay, daughter of William and Viola Killillay, was born in Galesburg, Ill., July 11, 1886, and passed away quietly September 3, 1948 at 3:30 p.m. at her home in Wilmore.

When a young girl she moved to Pleasanton, Iowa, and was united in marriage with Ora H. McCorkle on July 11, 1907. They immediately moved to Wilmore, Kans., where she resided until her demise.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Ora H. McCorkle; three sons, Ira E. McCorkle of Compton, Calif., Chief Petty Officer Richard McCorkle of Washington, D. C., and Master Sergeant Robert McCorkle of Tuscon, Arizona; four daughters, Mrs. U. E. Hennigh of Englewood, Kans., Mrs. John Kittell of Coldwater, Kans., Mrs. Billie Morris of Aetna, Kans., and Mrs. Gerald Teter of Protection, Kans.; four brothers, E.C. Killillay of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Fred Killillay of Pleasanton, Iowa, Lawrence Graves of Pleasanton, Iowa, and Ray Graves of Leon, Iowa; also 21 grandchildren. One son, Ancil, and three sisters preceded her in death.

On May 2, 1926, Mrs. McCorkle united in fellowship with the Wilmore Methodist Church and was a member until her death. With frugality born of necessity, this uncomplaining mother bore her physical ailment with the fortitude and patience displayed only by one who knew and realized that the sustaining arm of her Lord and Master was undergirding her through her phusical trials. Her sweet disposition was an encouragement to all who had the pleasure of visiting her during her last illness. Her optimism and cheery smile will long be remembered. She was a patient, kind and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her loved ones and many friends.
