HESTER OLIE TALLMAN was born in Long Creek Township, Decatur County, Ia.,
May 20, 1878, and died at her home in Weldon, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m., October 3
1913.

She was united in marriage to CHARLES W. DEPEW Dec. 21, 1902. To this union
was born one child, CHARLOTTE MAUDE, now nine years of age. She united with
the Methodist Episcopal Church when only 13 years of age and spent the
remainder of her young life in work for the cause of Christ. As a teacher in
the Sunday School, and as a helper in the Ladies' Aid and in fact, all the
activities of the church she did her full share and seemed never to grow
weary. She was, until deprived by ill health, a faithful attendant at the
Lord's house. Always when it was possible she was found at her post of duty

She was by nature of a cheerful disposition and through her long hours of
illness she never gave way to despondency or despair. She thought of her
home going and of leaving her little daughter, but uttered no word of
complaint. At her age life is very enjoyable to one with a happy home and
pleasant surroundings, but she willingly gave it up and died in the triumph
of a living faith, trusting wholly in God. She was a graduate of the Weldon
High School with the class of '94. She was a member of the O.E.S., which
organization had to a great extent charge of the funeral which was held from
the M.E. Church Sunday forenoon. The sermon was preached by her Pastor, Rev
Hodgson. Beautiful floral pieces were furnished by the O.E.S. for the
casket and also the Kensington Club of which the deceased was a member,
furnished beautiful flowers. The body was laid to rest in the Tallman lot
in the Greenbay Cemetery by the side of her sister, BERTHA, who died several
years ago. The sincere sympathy of the many friends is with the sorrowing
parents, brothers, sisters and especially with the stricken husband and
little daughter.
