MINERVA E. BARRICKMAN was born in Owen County, Ind., Oct. 8, 1844. She came
with her parents to Iowa and settled near Van Wert in 1856. She grew to
womanhood and by the writer was united in marriage to JAMES H. JOHNSON, Jan.
2, 1867. To them were born two sons and three daughters, as follows:
CHARLES JOHNSON, who died in infancy; HENRY F., residing in Bozeman, Mont.;
MAGGIE A., wife of GEORGE WOOD, residing in Des Moines; SUSAN B., wife of WM
RANSOM, residence in Humeston; MARY E., wife of JOHN MASON, residence in
North Dakota. The only brother of deceased, C.J. BARRICKMAN, lives in
Oklahoma.

Deceased joined the M.E. Church in early life and continued a member of the
same until death. The last five years of her life were spent in Des Moines,
and the last three years she was a great sufferer, yet was patient through
it all. She was conscious of her approaching end. She expressed to the
writer a few days before her death her confidence in God, her faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ and preparation for the closing scene. She died of cancer
in Des Moines, Oct. 12, 1913. Her end was peace.

Her remains were brought to Van Wert and funeral services were conducted by
the writer October 14, after which her remains were laid to rest in the
cemetery at Van Wert. May the blessing of God be upon the bereaved husband

Wert, hereby wish to express their gratitude to the many friends for their
kindness and sympathy during the last sickness and death of the wife and
mother, also for the shower of cards on her last birthday.
