MINNIE JANE BIGLEY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. BIGLEY, was born in Leon,
January 20, 1893, and died June 13, 1913.

Practically all her life was spent in Leon where she is well known,
especially in school circles and among the younger people who count her
memory as one of their precious treasures. About four weeks prior to her
death she became a victim of typhoid and though for the most of that time
she suffered much, yet her closing moments were tempered by divine mercy so
that her parting was gentle and serene. She frequented the young people's
services of the Christian Church where she learned of divine love and
salvation. She leaves in her departure, parents, three sisters and four
brothers. The last sad rites of love and esteem were held at the home
Saturday afternoon. A great number of sympathetic friends gathered and
betokened in quiet grief their love for this young life. A most beautiful
tribute among the man, was that of a pillow of roses sent by her fellow
employees of the Swift Co. Six young ladies dressed in emblematic white
assisted in carrying the body to its resting place. They were the Misses
Gene Spicer, Mabel Blatt, Bertha Blatt, Bertha Devere, Ollie Adair and Alta
Johnson. A mixed quartette sang some beautiful old songs that helped to
assuage the grief of the day. They were Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Miss Mabel Still,
Messrs. Ed Kemp and Will Gardner. The Pastor, James W. Johnson, of the
Christian Church, spoke the words of comfort and admonition, calling
attention to the fact that "she is not dead but sleepeth" for she, in
parting, left us her burdens to carry on, her love to continue, her ideals
to uphold. Her going ahead being one more added interest in the coming
blessings of eternal joy. Interment was made in the Leon Cemetery.

Out of town people who attended the funeral of Miss MINNIE were: Mr. and Mrs
Alf Bigley and Fred Bigley, of Kellerton, Iowa; Mrs. Isabel Wry, an aunt,
of Des Moines, Iowa; Miss Helen Evans and Mrs. R.C. Brant, of Des Moines,
and Chas. Bigley, of Omaha Nebraska.
