DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa January 13, 2010)

MASON, Chris LeRoy, 52, of Osceola, Iowa, died January 3, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Funeral services were held January 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Osceola with Jerry Milne, Chuck Graves, Bryan Arzani, Melanie Arzani, Bishop James Bair and Dave Downing officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola. Arrangements were through Kale Funeral Homes, Osceola and Truro.

CHRIS LeROY MASON ... Chris LeRoy Mason, son of Earl "Buck" Mason and Mary Lou [Hoffman] Hembry was born April 28, 1957 in Leon, Iowa. He passed from this life Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 52 years of age.

Chris grew up in Weldon and graduated from Clarke Community High School. He was united in marriage to Kelly Lea Glenn December 31, 1981 at Osceola, and two daughters blessed this union, Kyra and Charlee.

Chris worked at Hy-Vee, Snowdons, Jimmy Dean and Power Logistics in Osceola before beginning work as a machinist at Firestone in Des Moines in 2001.

Chris was a family man; he loved his daughters and looked forward to game nights and attending their sporting events. He was an outdoors man who loved hunting and shooting. He would take his daughters along with him to hunt for arrowheads and rocks every chance he could. He enjoyed black powder shooting and guns of all kinds. He helped organize the Weldon Squirrel Hunt. He was a self-taught artist and painter. He also liked to go to flea markets and was a collector of many things.

Chris was a member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Osceola. He and Kelly were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in July of 1984.

Those relatives who preceded Chris in death were his uncle, Raymond "Curly" Mason; aunt, Marjorie Curtis; mother-in-law, Connie Glenn; and step-father, Myron Hembry.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Kelly; daughters, Kyra Mason (Jordan Brownlee) and Carlee (Gerry) Milne all of Osceola; father, Earl "Buck" Mason; mother, Mary Lou Hembry; father-in-law, Larry Glenn all of Osceola; step-mother, Kathy Mason of Weldon sisters, Cindy (Jeff Norman) of Osceola and Pam (Joe) Sitzman of Woodburn; brother, Brent (Sarah) Mason of Clinton, Mo.; step-brother, Brent (Sarah) Mason of Clinton, Mo.; step-brother, Wayne (Penny) Hembry of Albany, Mo.; several nieces and nephews, and many relatives and a host of friends.
