BRACEWELL NEWS:

The funeral of LUCIUS SNOW who, it is claimed, shot himself in Oklahoma,
took place at the residence of A.A. SNOW Sunday at 3 p.m. It was delayed to
this time in order to give DORA BERRY, of South Dakota, sister of the
deceased, an opportunity, to arrive if possible, but she did not appear. In
that the relatives of the deceased had opposite views regarding the status
of man after death, a promiscuous program was carried out wherein the
sentiments of either side were represented. Great care was exercised to
wound the feelings of none. And in this respect perfect harmony prevailed
so far as we know. Prayer was offered by Bro. Jas. Fisher. Songs were sung
some religious, some not. A brief address was read by A.A. SNOW. The
burial took place at the Shields grave yard. There was a large number
present.

A telegram and a short article from the Kansas City Star is, as yet all the
information we are in possession of as to how deceased came to his death.
The telegram is to the effect that L.L. SNOW shot himself and is dead. The
Star says that he took a bath, shaved, and then shot himself. Supposedly
caused by ill health and despondency. Scores of persons who viewed the
corpse are strongly of the opinion that he could not have been shot by
himself; in that there was no indication of powder burn. Besides the
blackness about the eyes and another mark having the appearance of a bruise
throw suspicion on the case. But withal it seems, to us, that we must
suspend judgment until further evidence is considered. HOMER SNOW, brother
of the deceased, is making arrangements to go to investigate the matter. He
was shot in the right temple just a little ways in the edge of the hair of
the head. ELIZA SNOW, of Blakesburg, and MARY SWIFT, of Bethleham, the two
grandmothers of the deceased, were present at the funeral.
