Leon, Iowa
Thursday April, 3, 1913

THOMAS WILSON, a well known citizen of Decatur County, died very suddenly at
9:30 Friday evening at the Hawkeye Restaurant in this city while waiting for
his supper to be served. For about two years Mr. WILSON had been a patient
sufferer of tuberculosis. Sometime ago he went to Denver hoping to find
relief in the mountain climate but he was doomed to disappointment and
finding that naught but death was left for him he decided to return to his
southern Iowa home surroundings. In company with his brother, CHARLEY
WILSON, he arrived in Osceola on No. 2 Friday, registered at the hotel and
went to the restaurant for supper, it being too late for the evening meal at
the hotel. Except for an indication of increased weakness caused by the
long journey there were no visible symptoms that the patient was so near
death. He moved slightly in his chair, made some remark to his brother who
was near and expired without a struggle. The body was prepared for burial
and accompanied by CHARLES WILSON, and H.E. WILSON, of DeKalb; F.M. MILLER,
of Decatur City; J.H. FRY, of Van Wert; and HARVEY DE KALB, of De Kalb, and
was taken to De Kalb Saturday afternoon. The funeral services will be held
on Monday and the body laid to rest in the Young Cemetery near Grand River.

The deceased was a single man about 40 years of age. He was a member of a
most highly respected and thrifty family of Decatur County. He leaves to
mourn his death a father and a number of brothers, the mother having died
some months ago. -- Osceola Sentinel.
