JOHN T. SMITH was born July 9, 1852, and departed this life April 28, 1913.
He was at the time of his death, sixty years, nine months and nineteen days
of age.

Mr. SMITH was born in Champaign County, Illinois, where he resided until he
was almost twenty years old. He then came to Decatur County. The remainder
of his life has been spent in this county. He lived on a farm till March 1,
1913, when he with his family, moved to Van Wert.

Mr. SMITH joined the Baptist Church when a young man, and has since
maintained faith in the Christ he then confessed. He was married to SARAH
ANN BLACKBURN, March 29, 1879. To this union has been born three children,
two boys and one girl. The children are: FRED T., ROSA, and JAMES, all of
whom were present.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church Wednesday at 11 a.m., in
charge of Rev. Keast, and Rev. Cornell preached the sermon. A large
gathering of friends and relatives were present to pay this last tribute to
his memory. Interment was made in the Van Wert Cemetery.
