OBITUARY -- NARCISSA GASTON

NARCISSA GASTON was born in Columbia County, Ohio, February 15, 1830, and died at her home in Decatur, Iowa, March 23, 1913. She came with her brother to Iowa in 1876, and two years later was married to ALBERT BROCKWAY, November 5, 1878. Mr. BROCKWAY died November 26, 1894. Mrs. BROCKWAY was neighborly, kind and solicitous of friends and the sick. The writer never heard her say a harmful word about any one. Although she had no children of her own she was always interested in children. Mrs. BROCKWAY was converted and joined the Presbyterian Church when a young woman and after coming to Decatur united with the Methodist Church of which she has been a faithful member until her death. A poet wrote:

"We live in deeds, not words, in thoughts, not breaths.
In feeling, not in figures on a dial;
We should count time by heart-throbs when they beat for God, for man, for duty;
He lives most who thinks most, feels noblest, and acts the best."

Mrs. BROCKWAY leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. JOHN GEETING, of Decatur; Mrs. ELIZABETH LYONS, of Oregon; HUGH GASTON, of Tama County, Iowa, and PHILANDER GASTON, of Ohio. Everything was done that loving hands could do in her last hours. She had with her, her step-daughter, Mrs. A.O. BULLOCK, from St. Joseph, Mo., and her niece, Mrs. ELIZABETH CROFFORD, of Ohio.
