WILLIAM EARL SHOWERS ... William Earl Showers passed away at the Decatur County Hospital July 20, 1973, at the age of 85 years. He had been in ill health for several years.

He was born near Woodland, Iowa on June 11, 1888, son of Calvin anD Alice Allard Showers, the youngest of four children.

On March 11, 1907, he was united in marriage to Rosa Nell Harris. To this union was born 10 children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; and infant daughter, Elsie; three sons, Floyd, Ralph, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Anna Allard, Alice Dyer, and Josie McCarty.

Survivors include three daughters, Millie Petty of Lineville, Ruby Chapman of Davis City, and Thelma Elmore of Leon; three sons, Vernon and Dewayne of Leon and Eldon of Davenport; 29 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was united in the Assembly of God Church at Woodland Iowa in 1932.

They lived on a farm until 1957, then moved to Lineville due to failing health.

He was a kind and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services were held Sunday, July 22, at the Assembly of God Church in Lineville with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Roy Donelson and Rev. Chester Massey. Mr. and Mrs. Marley Shields sang "Life is a Railway to Heaven" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone."

Pallbearers were grandsons.

We wish to thank all relatives and friends for the flowers, food, and acts of kindness during the loss of our Father, William (Bill) Showers. A special thanks to the ladies on the Assembly of God church who served lunch.
