ELIZABETH MATILDA MORRELL was born at Hillsville, Virginia, February 21,
1823. Was married to URIAH BOBBIT September 20th, 1842. To this union seven
children were born; five sons and two daughters. Three sons have preceded
her to the better world. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church
when a young girl, and has lived a consistent Christian life. She departed
this world May 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.R. PORTER, at Van
Wert, Iowa, aged 89 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

The funeral services were held at the home of her son, Mr. W.H. BOBBIT, in
Leon, last Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Hymns that Grandma BOBBIT
loved were sung by a quartette from the Methodist Church. The brief service
was conducted by Rev. Guy Fansher, Pastor of the Leon Methodist Church, of
which church Grandma BOBBIT was a charter member, and had belonged to the
organization for over three quarters of a century. The floral offerings
were beautiful. Everyone knew and loved Grandma BOBBIT and all mourn her
death. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of our people. The funeral
services were largely attended.
