MARY E. CLARKE, daughter of GEO. W. and POLLY ANN CLARKE, was born July 24,
1846, and died April 28, 1912, at the home of her son GRANT T. DORSEY, being
65 years, 9 months and 4 days old.

She was united in marriage to VOLNEY H. DORSEY in 1865. To this union were
born two children, JOHN W., of Laplata, Mo., and GRANT T., of High Point,
Iowa. She was converted when a young girl and united with the Methodist
Episcopal Church of which she has been a faithful member, holding her
membership at Leon, Iowa, which has been her home for a number of years.
Before her marriage she taught in the schools of Lake County, Ind. Being
left a widow while her children were small, there was placed upon her the
double burden of their care and support, and for many years she has nursed
the sick in Leon and vicinity, where she has earned herself many warm
friends.

Mrs. DORSEY was deservedly popular with all in this community. She was a
true friend, a good neighbor and always found ready to do her part at any
time. No one ever appealed to her for help who was turned away. She was a
good woman and richly deserves the reward to which she has gone. Our people
extend to the bereaved relatives sincerest sympathy.
